Revive us Again

Some years ago, I heard a prominent preacher lamenting during a revival meeting in a particular church. I was part of that meeting even though I was still a dummy in the Christian faith as at that time. This was in the year 2002. I saw him yelling and preaching to the congregation. This wonderful messenger poured out his heart. Sometimes he was in tears as he expounded on the word of God.

As I looked closely at the congregation, I could read their countenance. To some and while he was still preaching, they were busy chatting, while some slumped into their chairs and slept off in the middle of a great sermon like that. I also took a look at those at the podium, some were already tired; you can see it clearly on their faces.

One of the elders was busy with a magazine. And I said to myself...”this is madness’’. I kept wondering why people will behave this way even when a hot sermon from an anointed voice is been preached? Why would an elder or deacon be sleeping in the middle of a critical message like that? Why would a general overseer or pastor be moving in and out of the church when a sermon is going on? All these questions puzzled my heart and I was highly disappointed by their complacencies.

            At the end of this great message, this great man of God made an altar call and quickly I observed that most people who came out were only some mothers and a majority of youths; the pastors and elders held tight to their seats. In their mind I could hear them say “we have been born again for almost 10, 20, or 30 years. How then should we come out to join these young ones?”

But if we look so closely and if we will tell ourselves the truth, there are areas in our lives that need revival. I mean they are dead! God is absent and even unbelievers can sense it that you are struggling and fainting gradually. The unbelievers will not tell you this because they expect you to help them revive.

I don’t think we understand that there is an urgent need for a revival. The church of Christ must be revived; our homes need to be revived. Our careers, businesses, spiritual lives, ministries, finances, health, etc.  All these and more need revival. I honestly pray you see the magnitude of what I am saying. The major problem we have right now is lack of understanding about the times. The Bible tells me that there was a tribe in Israel that had a good understanding about times.

“…….of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do …,” 1Chronicles 12:32 (NKJV)

What this means is that they tell Israel when to go to war and when not to. The nation of Israel had to enquire from the sons of Issachar what the times are saying. Pastors must understand the need for revivals. You should know when to expect a revival in your ministry or local assembly. When I say “revival” I mean to be reawaken; to wake up from spiritual slumber, to bring back what had died. It could be anything – your prayer life, Bible study life, your marriage, your ministry, your financial status, business status, your health. Once you discover everything around you is crumbling to debris; then revival is necessary.

Unless you forgive

Then peter came to him and said, lord how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?

Jesus said to him, I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.

But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made.

The servant therefore fell down before him, saying ‘master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘pay me what you owe!’

So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him saying, ‘have patience with me and I will pay you all.’ And he would not, but went out and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘you wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I have had pity on you?

And his master was very angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.

So my heavenly father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.’ ( matthew 18 vs 21 – 35 NKJV )

We will be taking few observations from the scripture above. Firstly, I want to say that familiarity with scripture can be very dangerous. When a man is so familiar with the bible, he will never know when God is talking to him. Because he is already puffed up. For instance if a pastor is about to preach to his congregation on a Sunday morning and they were asked to open to john 3:16, I want to tell you that eighty percent of the people will not find it interesting in opening the bible with all readiness to know what God is about to say. Do you know why? Familiarity! So I want to say here that not everybody will accept what it written in this book. Some may see genuine truth as the light of God’s word break into their spirit, others will see faults and mistakes in this book. One of the character I have developed or copied from one of my spiritual fathers is that, I always make sure I pray before reading any book. At this juncture you need to close this book and just ask the holy spirit to help you understand what this book is saying and that at the end you will be able to apply them to yourself.  THE STORY

The first thing to do is to really understand what the story was all about. There were three major characters in the parable and two minor characters (Jesus and Peter) which were not part of the real story. Before Jesus told this parable, I want to assume that peter was having problem with someone maybe a friend or relation. I assume this because, it had not been long brother peter joined the discipleship class of Jesus Christ and we cannot presume that peter has been made completely.

Peter wanted to find a lasting solution to the problem of unforgiveness. People have been hurting uncle peter so much. He has been offended many times and he would not bear a grudge against anyone. Base on research, temperament-wise, peter was a sanguine and we all know that sanguine can hardly hurt a fly. Now, let us go back to the bible and read again for better understanding.

Then peter came to him and said…… peter came directly to Jesus. He did not go through short-cut. Peter was not afraid of coming to his master. He knew very well that Jesus has the final solution to his situation. Firstly, may I say here that if your relationship with Jesus Christ is sour, you will need to make it sweet. You cannot go directly to God to ask anything when you must have by-passed Jesus Christ. This is not possible. Jesus must know you and you must know Jesus. This is why the issue of been born again is very important. You cannot access the master when you have no relationship with him. Note this!

Peter called him LORD. Peter recognized Jesus as master over all. He did not see any other person as lord but Jesus.

In the jewish law, offending or accusing someone unnecessarily is a sin. So, peter was aware of this. He understands the mosaic  law but needed more clarification from Jesus. Let me take it in a simple language anyone can clearly understand. What peter was saying here is, ‘sir, how many times will my brother, sister, mother, father or friends offend me before I can forgive them? Should I endure till the seventh offence? This was what bro peter was trying to ask. Peter wanted to be so sure so that he can be a correct disciple who will not retaliate at the seventh offence as some us do. Our churches no longer address this matter in our gatherings. Unforgiveness is an evil which has destroyed many marriages, homes and churches. Nobody is preaching about it again. But, brother peter was so careful on this matter and he reasoned with himself on how to correct this matter while he was with Jesus. Peter seized the opportunity to get the truth. He was not like some of us who will always swallow everything both hook, line and sinker. This is the problem with our present generation. Only a few are willing to ask questions during or after bible studies. Let us also understand that peter had a tooth for tat mentality. This is part of the mosaic law. In the mosaic law, anything can happen. If your brother slaps you, you just have to retaliate if not you will be at the losing end. The funny thing here is that the natural man in us do not want to be insulted. He does not like to be embarrassed. If you scream at him, the next time he sees you, he won’t talk to you again. In our every day life, offence will come; people will offend us but how you handle it determines whether it will offend you or not. People take up offences unnecessarily. What looks like a minute problem is enlarged and amplified to serious issues because the heart is not correct. Brethren, how many times will our brothers offend us before we can forgive? Sister, it is true someone has broken your heart as you said. But can you forgive this man? It is also true that the other time, your inlaws insulted you so much. But have you forgiven them? What most Christians regard as an insult is because they took up an offence which has already fallen to the ground. If they had left it on the ground without picking it up, it would not become an offence.

A dream is like a snapshot, which captures, one brief moment out of a life time. It cannot be understood fully without knowing something about the life of a person it concerns. Therefore, it is not enough to know the meaning and symbols alone.

Even when we are familiar with the background of the person a dream concerns. one must be cautious in interpreting it. Hasty dream interpretations must be avoided. Daniel had to take his time to puzzle over king Nebuchadnezzar’s dream for an hour before he ventured on interpretation, and he knew the kings lifestyle well (Daniel 4:18-19). The best way to keep from either simply forgetting about a dream or jumping to conclusions is to start a dream journal. This involves taking ample time to write down the dream. It usually causes one to remember it in full detail. God is faithful to speak to us again and again if we are really trying to hear what he has to say.

·                    Dreaming of an illicit, intimate sexual encounter often reveals one being possessed with the spirit of lust. It also means one is having a spirit being as a wife (husband).

·                    If you dream of killing someone, you had better pray against spirit of Jealousy and hatred.

·                 If you dream of seeing doors before you, pray for break through

·                    If you dream of handling keys, it means God is placing you in a strategic position. You had better pray to let it manifest.

·                    If you dream of seeing someone cutting your hair, it means the devil is tampering with your glory either in marriage or any other area. Pray violently against it.

·                    If you dream of embarking on a journey and you couldn’t find your shoes, it means you are not prepared.

Dream journal

Taking your dreams very serious is so crucial and it cannot be over-emphasized. Many people especially christians are very careless and that is why even when they had been born again, things still go wrong in their lives. As a prophet, i have counselled a lot of people and i find this to be true. I have also heard some people say dreams are nothing; it is just a reflection of our daily thoughts.
You see the spiritual realm controls the physical realm. Whatever you see happening to man physically have already taken place in the spirit realm. Every battle in life begins in the spirit and ends in the spirit. If your struggles in life began in the spirit, it is a mere waste of time to fight it in the physical. When this happens, it is an indication that you are carnal.

Having a dream journal is very important. A dream journal is a note book where you write the dreams you had each time. I have followed my dream jounal so closely and i came to a point where i understood why some things are happening the way they were happening. Having a dream journal helps you to sequentially analyse the dream trends in your own personal life.There are some dreams i had some years ago which have manifested. What i just do is to take a closer look at the dreams in my journal and confirm it with my pen. Begin to practise this from today. Be determined never to be careless with your dreams anymore. What you should know about dreams.

Dreams are accurate reflection of your current situation. Dreams speaks about our past, present or future. If you are not dreaming, it means your future is at stake. Many people tend to easily forget their dreams or they are not dreaming at all. God uses dreams and revelations to either warn us or reveal crucial issues at hand. Let me also tell you that not all dreams are of God. Some dreams could come from satan himself with the clear purpose of making you to derail. Demonic dreams can be so convincing that immediately you accept it in your spirit, it begins to manifest with or without your consent. This is the very reason many peoples destiny is fragmented.

This blog is meant to guide, instruct, teach and prayerfully guide many into the one and only truth on how they can enter their destiny by properly interpreting their dreams as the holy spirit directs. By the grace of God upon my life, God has called me to be a prophet and what you should know is that prophets are primarily preachers of righteousness, dream interpreters and inetrcessors. But one day, the light of God dawn on me as i sat under a servant of God who made me discover this truth. Let me ask you, have you ever dreamt of seeing snakes in your dreams?  Have you ever seen yourself wearing  your old primary or seconadry school uniform when you know presently  you are close to the age of thirty years? Do  you occasionally dream of having sex  with an unknown person or persons in the dream? Do you see yourself in the village all the time? This is an indication of the environment where  your spirit belongs and it requires immediate attention.
